Gourmet treats in the air

Airbus A380 airlines operate large and spacious kitchen areas compared to most other airplanes. They also hire cutting edge chefs and nutrition experts to devise gourmet menus fit for kings and queens (that’s you!)

Top names, top taste!

Singapore Airlines only serves menus designed by a high-profile panel of celebrity and Michelin-star chefs whose recipes are brought to life in the air –and to your seat. The airline also offers an innovative Book the Cook service for Suites, First Class, Business and Premium Economy. You simply pick your meal and it’s made to order.

Not to be outdone, Qatar Airways also calls in world famous chefs when it comes to serving up top notch bites at 40,000 feet. UK hotshot Tom Aikens, Lebanese TV chef Ramzi Choueiri, Aussie restaurateur George Calombaris, Japanese superstar chef Nobu Matsuhisa and India’s two-Michelin star sensation Vineet Bhatia are among the big names to design menus for A380 passengers.

Air France, has engaged celebrity chefs Joel Robuchon, Guy Martin and Jacques Le Divellec to come up with tasty treats, while Neil Perry – one of Australia’s best known culinary stars – has been working with Qantas for the past 15 years.

Asiana Airlines, meanwhile, works with the Institute of Korean Royal Cuisine to develop healthy, colourful and interesting dishes.

Taste is part of the adventure

Here are some mouth-watering treats to whet your tastebuds ahead of your next A380 flight.

Fancy a croissant? Breakfast in bed doesn’t come any better than this glorious spread in Etihad’s First Class cabin.

Craving a snack? The bar on an A380 is not the only perfect place to share a drink, but it’s also ideal for mingling with other passengers and indulging in a few treats in between meals.

This passenger got more than olives and tapenade when he was called to the Emirates bar for a birthday treat on his A380 flight.

We hope he saved some space for this…
